Thing are going great!

I'm finally over my stupid flu bug and thing seem to be going great for a change! Over the weekend, we went to a Rally trial in Tennessee with my dog, Maizy. She won her class and earned her first leg toward the title! Woo Hoo! She insisted I post her picture, posed all nicely with her ribbons and the little green hedgehog toy she won!

In case you didn't know, the other BIG obsession in my life is my dogs, which I raise, train, and show. If I'm not knitting, or homeschooling my kids, you can bet I'm busy with my dogs.

Then yesterday, my mom gave me another cool gift, a Stitch 'N Bitch Knitter's Design Journal! How cool is that! I LOVE it! It's full of all kinds of cool information and all kinds of stuff.

I'm still working on the Alien Illusion Scarf for my daughter, Amanda. This thing is taking a lot longer than I thought it would, but it is really fun to see the alien faces pop out! I'm also waiting for the Mail Lady to bring me the sock yarn I have ordered so I can start my next pair of socks.

Well, I've been bit by the flu bug

Well, I've been bit by the flu bug, so
not much is going on around here.

My mom just got in a couple of packages from eBay full of knitting needles and crochet hooks! It's quite a cool stash of hardware, let me tell ya! I went by today and she was nice enough to contribute some to my needle collection.
Thanks Mom!!

I did watch a cool movie last night, The Skeleton Key, which I really liked! Nothing better for the flu than snuggling up in a quilty bed watching horror movies.

I'm better tonight, so I'm fixin' to go knit a while.

Woo Hoo! I finished some stuff!

I finished a scarf for the Red Scarf Project late last night. (It's made with Lion's Brand Homespun in Candy Apple.) On the left is a picture of it, all folded neat and nice, right before I boxed it up and sent it to the post office.

This afternoon I finished my very first pair of socks!!!! Woo Hoo! {okay, so I guess you can tell I get sorta excited when stuff comes off the needles, huh!} They aren't the prettiest things in the world, but I learned a whole bunch about sock knitting.

Notice the one on the top is sort of covering up the middle part of the 'bad' first sock I knitted! The bad sock has a few flaws in it, like when I knitted two rows upside down! Not kidding. I was sooo excited after I got the first gusset done - which turned out to be completely wrong, but hey, I didn't know it at the time - somehow I got all turned around and knitted two rows with the work on top of the needles instead of hanging under them like a good sock is supposed to do. What was I thinking, I sure don't know!? So the 'bad' one has a funny-looking garter stripe going around it. But, hey, I'm still really happy to have finished this pair, so now I can get started on some that might end up less flawed!

I would have to say that knitting the heel is probably my favorite part.

Some stuff I've made.

I thought I'd post some pictures of some stuff I've made in the past. Here are 3 ponchos: the green cabled one is mine, the blue stripey one is my daughter Amanda's, and the one made of red Lion's Brand Fancy Fur is my other daughter Brittany's. I made these about a year ago, my first big attempts at stuff we could actually wear out of the house!

I spent about three weeks recently knitting a Harry Potter Prizoner of Azkaban scarf for my little boy, Tyler. I even put his initials on the bottom, and made a little hat out of the leftover yarn! I'm hoping for one heck of a snow storm to hit so he can get some use out this thing!

I'm still hard at work on my first pair of socks and the Red Scarf. I'm hoping to get something finished tonight. As for working with double pointed needles... at first I was cussing whatever sadistic son-of-a-gun had gotten so drunk that he decided to invent the stupid things! LOL Then after knitting a few rounds of the cuff with 'em, I discovered they aren't that bad. Actually I kind of like using them now, but boy, was it intimidating looking down at 4 little pointed needles tangled in yarn, trying to figure out how the heck I was supposed to hold all that mess in one hand AND knit! Anyway, the first sock is butt-ugly but the second one is coming along nicely now, thanks to some very nice technical advise I got from Susan. (Pssst...Susan, if you're reading this.... THANKS AGAIN!)

Hey, Look!

Hey, look! I figured out how to post a picture!
There is hope for me yet! Ha Ha!
These are 4 of my Boston Terriers wearing the sweaters I made for them last year. Capone's doesn't show up very well but his is probably the most comfortable, since I made it out of some Lion Brand Homespun that was left over from a hooded sweater I made for myself.
My pups are not spoiled, they are just very special!

Oh, I have one of my socks done, my first one ever. It is NOT pretty, but it is indeed a sock! My second one is on the needles and I am determined to get it finished in time to get a 'J' beside my name for the Sock-a-Month Knit-Along!

I also have 3 feet of the Red Scarf done. Now it only has to grow another 2 feet before Friday......Did I mention I habitually bite off way more than I need to be chewing!!

Currently on my needles

I currently have 3 'works in progress' going right now, which is really unusual for me, since I usually only like to only work on one thing at a time. I have 1/3 of the Alien Illusion Scarf from Stitch 'N Bitch done, a bit over a half of my very first sock EVER (I'll post more on my adventure with those @%$ double pointed things later), and I'm working on a scarf for the Red Scarf Project. I only learned of that project a few days ago when I was surfing blogs - the deadline is January 28, so I had to get crackin'!

I am hoping to have time tomorrow to sit down and figure out the technical side of blogging so I can post pictures and stuff here.

Well, it's almost midnight here, so I'm off to bed soon.

Well, I'm at it again!

Hi Everybody!
I'm going to give this blog thing another go.
(I had started on once before but never got around to posting much and forgot how to access it! DUH!)
Anyway, this should be fun. As soon as I figure out how pictures work on here, I'll start adding stuff. I recently joined a Sock-a-Month knit-along, so it should be interesting for people to see if I can actually figure out hot to knit a sock!
